I qualified to teach the Alexander Technique in 1997 after a three year fulltime intensive training course with the Australian Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique(AUSTAT) under the guidance of Bill Brenner & Rosemary Chance.
I have been teaching for nearly 15 years, during which I have been lucky enough to teach part time, and continue my learning in the UK as a member of STAT.
I was introduced to the Alexander Technique after suffering many years of chronic back pain. I had tried many different types of treatments without success, all gave only temporary relief.
Soon after starting my training I realised instead of treating the injured part as I had in the past, I needed to look at the whole of me, in a non habitual way. The tension I had built up over the years needed to be released and with a new kinaesthetic awareness, I was able
to regain good physical health.
