Student Testimonials

“I started the Alexander Technique with Kathy Ting in 2003 when I was having a lot of pain with my shoulders and neck. I had approximately 23 sessions and I now in 2009 have no pain in my neck or shoulders.

I periodically see Kathy to ‘top up’ the wonderful skills she has taught me. I have had some arthritis in my right knee and feet. Kathy has taught me to understand my body and to learn skills which reduces my pain.

Kathy is a wonderful teacher with enormous knowledge of not only the mechanics of the body but also great understanding of the psychological and emotional underpinnings of the body.

I find her to be positive but gentle in her approach to myself and I have had enormous relief and dare I say pleasure in being relieved from my pain.”

“Kathy has changed my way of thinking about myself I now feel relaxed and confident. I now hold myself up better when I am sitting and standing, I find that it does not require great deal of effort.
When I am feeling shy in public, I remember to ‘take up my space’.

Kathy is a very patient teacher and does all she can do to reassure the student that the Alexander Technique way is easy. I only wish I could continue under her guidance and she wasn’t moving back to Australia.”

“After a spell of regular lesson’s, the physical changes suddenly clicked. Instead of having to consciously think about releasing and not sitting or standing awkwardly, I now feel uncomfortable when I am holding my self badly. I think it must be like learning to drive a car, to start with you have to think consciously of every separate thing- changing gear, using clutch etc. but after a while it become second nature and you do it automatically.
What I am most struck with about Alxeander Work is it’s holistic nature. Kathy approached it at both a physical and mental level. I began to think about how much I put both my body and mind under unproductive and stressful pressure by not relaxing, taking time to collect myself and approaching things in a connected way.

I am an executive coach and see this happening in all my clients. I wish I could send Kathy some my clients for Alexander Lessons at the same time, so they could learn now to use themselves more effectively. I am absolutely convinced that their progress would be much faster with much more dramatic results. Kathy is a wonderful teacher, very patient but challenging in a most supportive way.”

Mairi Eastwood, 2003, London, UK.
